A polluting phone

That's the first time I evoke the famous Apple's iPhone on my blog. Most of you know that I like this company but in the same way I try to stay unconcerned by all the buzz around the products.
For instance, since a few months I have subscribed to the newsletter of the website GreenMyApple. It is a branch of the Greenpeace organization, dedicated to observe the attitude of Apple regarding the environment. Before 2007, the Cupertino's firm was one of the most polluting computing company. Then in May of this year, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., published a letter to clearly define the environment policy of the company and promised to stop using some very dangerous material.

So yesterday, Greenpeace took apart an iPhone and posted some photos and videos on the Internet. They discovered that the phone contains some very polluting products that even competitors (Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson) have stopped using. I'm not good at sciences but here is a couple of examples:
- we can find toxic phtalates in the earphones, which are prohibited in the toys sold in Europe ;
- the battery is welded to the iPhone, making its recycling difficult.

Ca n'a rien à voir mais je n'ai pas eu de remarques de ta part concernant le fait que parfois j'écris en anglais.

Ca te gêne ? Oui, non ?
